Sole Riot
A little sole. A lot of soul.
Sole Riot grew out of my love of experimenting with spray paint, making my own stencils, and seeing what happens when I keep adding one more thing. Occasionally, "one more thing" becomes twelve. That's between me and the painting.
Why the Jordan 1
A familiar silhouette to riot around.
The Jordan 1 gave that experimentation a familiar shape to work around. It's a basketball shoe with a life far beyond basketball, tied to personal style, music, street culture, and people making something their own.
That makes it a pretty fitting subject for a collection that refuses to be subtle.

The pieces
Same shoe. Different attitude.
I pulled that recognizable silhouette into layers of color, stencil work, mixed media, and unexpected details. Each piece gave me room to try different combinations and follow whatever caught my attention. The shoe connects them, but I wanted each one to have its own attitude.

A Little Personality. Hiding in Plain Sight.
I've always liked leaving little surprises for people to find. Hiding an inside joke around the house, moving something to a random spot, then waiting for someone to notice. Small things that make an ordinary day a little funnier.
That habit found its way into Sole Riot. Every Jordan 1 piece has a googly eye tucked somewhere into the artwork. It started as something that made me laugh and became a little signature for the collection.
Nope. That one's just a dot. The googly eye moves. Keep looking.
You found it!Sharp eye. Now try it on the real thing.
Give up? Show me the googly eye
Bottom right, hiding in the halftone dots next to the coffee ring. It's been watching you this whole time.
Sole and soul. There's thought behind it. There's also a googly eye. Both belong.
Mixed media on cardstock, framed and ready to hang, each signed and paired with a Certificate of Authenticity. The story behind each individual piece lives in its product description.
