01About NUMBCHUX

What is NUMBCHUX?

NUMBCHUX is the name behind original artwork by an independent artist based in the United States. The work moves between bold mixed-media street art and quieter, symbolic paintings about identity and personal growth. Every piece is one of a kind and made by hand.

Where does the name NUMBCHUX come from?

In 2007, the artist drew a robot character named Numbchux and dreamed of building a T-shirt brand around it. The brand never happened, but the name stuck. It later became the alias for stencil and spray-paint work inspired by West Coast street art. Read the full story on the About page.

What kind of art does NUMBCHUX make?

Original paintings and mixed-media art, currently in two collections:

  • The Work of Becoming: black-and-white acrylic paintings on hand-built basswood panels.
  • Sole Riot: colorful Jordan 1 collages made with spray paint, stencils, and layered paper.
What is the Sole Riot collection?

Sole Riot (2024–2025) reimagines the Air Jordan 1 through mixed-media collage, spray paint, and stencils on cardstock. Drawing on the shoe's connection to basketball and street culture, the series explores individuality, rebellion, and self-expression. Shop Sole Riot.

What is The Work of Becoming collection?

The Work of Becoming is the current series of original acrylic paintings, inspired by human behavior, Carl Jung's ideas, and Stoic philosophy. Through symbolic imagery and rough, expressive marks, it explores the masks we wear, the patterns we repeat, and the ongoing process of becoming whole. Shop The Work of Becoming.

How much does an original NUMBCHUX artwork cost?

Original artwork currently starts at $300. Prices vary by piece and, for Sole Riot, by frame choice. Current pricing is listed on each piece in the shop.

What sizes are the artworks?

The Work of Becoming paintings currently measure 17.5 × 23.5 × 1.5 inches. Sole Riot artworks measure 20 × 16 inches (artwork only). Exact dimensions are listed on every product page.

02Orders & Payment

How do I pay?

Checkout is handled securely through the payment options shown at checkout. All prices are in U.S. dollars, and any taxes and shipping charges appear before you pay.

Is every piece really one of a kind?

Yes. Original artwork is one of one. When it sells, it's gone. Each listing tells you exactly what you're getting, including the medium, dimensions, and what's included.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email hey@numbchux.com as soon as possible. Changes and cancellations depend on where your order is in the process and can't be guaranteed once it has been prepared or shipped.

I spotted a mistake in a listing. What happens?

If an item becomes unavailable or a listing has a pricing error, you'll hear from me before anything moves forward. If an order can't be fulfilled, it's cancelled and refunded in full.

03Shipping

When will my order ship?

Orders are typically processed and shipped within 5 to 7 business days after payment, unless the listing says otherwise. Business days don't include weekends or holidays.

Processing time is separate from transit time. Delivery estimates depend on your location and the carrier.

Choosing a custom frame? Custom frames are made after your order is placed, so I'll contact you directly with timing for your piece.

How much is shipping?

Shipping is calculated at checkout, so you'll see the exact cost before you pay.

I entered the wrong shipping address.

Email hey@numbchux.com right away. Address changes may not be possible once the package has shipped.

My package is late or lost.

Get in touch and I'll work with the carrier to track it down and sort it out.

04Returns & Damage

Can I return a piece?

All sales are final for changes of mind, including size or color preferences, so please check the listing details before you buy. This doesn't limit any rights you have under applicable law.

My artwork arrived damaged or isn't what I ordered.

I'll make it right. Email hey@numbchux.com as soon as possible, ideally within 7 days of delivery, and include:

  • Your order number
  • A short description of the issue
  • Clear photos of the artwork and the packaging

Please keep the original packaging while the issue is reviewed, and don't send anything back until we've talked. Depending on the issue, the fix may be a repair, a replacement where possible, or a refund.

05The Artwork

Is my piece signed? Does it come with a certificate?

Yes and yes. Every original is signed by the artist and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The Work of Becoming paintings are signed and titled on the reverse, and their certificates are signed and dated.

See Collector Info for everything that comes with your piece.

Does it arrive ready to hang?

Yes, unless the product description says otherwise. The Work of Becoming paintings come with hanging hardware installed, and Sole Riot pieces come framed, with a plastic or custom wood frame chosen on the product page.

Will the colors look exactly like the photos?

Close, but screens vary. Handmade work also has natural variations in texture and finish. Room mockups and styled photos are for illustration, so check the listed dimensions for actual size.

Can I make prints of the artwork I bought?

Buying an original gives you ownership of the physical piece. The copyright stays with NUMBCHUX, so reproductions, prints, or merchandise need written permission. Details are in the Terms & Conditions.

Still curious? Just ask.

Questions about a specific piece, an order, or shipping are always welcome.
